<p>If you’re in business, you’re going to make mistakes and you’re going to occasionally fail. That’s okay, because that’s how you learn and how you get better and grow. The key is to minimize the impact of your mistakes and failures. Make your successes big and your failures small, and you’ll always come out ahead.<br />
The best way to do this is to test before you implement. Never assume that any idea will work; always test it for proof. This includes marketing ideas, product ideas, operational systems, and anything else that will affect your company.<br />
Testing allows you to keep your failures small and make your successes big. Take marketing as an example: Don’t go out and blow your entire budget on one idea. Let’s say you have three different marketing ideas and you’re not sure which one will work the best. Your total budget for the year is $100,000. Instead of picking one of those ideas and taking a chance on spending your entire $100,000 on it, test all three with budgets of $10,000 each. When you’re finished testing, you’ll know which idea works the best, and you’ll still have $70,000 left to spend on it. And if you weren’t satisfied with the results from all three ideas, you can come up with something different that you can test and possibly implement.</p>
<p>Or let’s say you only have one idea and a budget of $100,000. Test it on a small scale anyway, because that will tell you whether or not it’s going to work. If you spend $10,000 on the test and you’re satisfied with the results, greatâ€"roll it out on a larger scale. But if you aren’t satisfied, at least you’ll have $90,000 left to use when you come up with another idea.</p>
<p>You can and should apply the testing concept to any part of your company, including product development, employee recognition and compensation, organizational structure, and general operations.</p>
<p>If you test something that doesn’t work and it fails, you didn’t lose. You simply made an investment to find out whether you should do a larger implementation. The knowledge you gained was worth the money you spent. </p>
<p>There will be situations when you don’t have time to test, when you just have to go with your gut because there’s no other choice and you have to move quickly. There will be other times when you choose to follow your instincts because the risk is low. But if you could have test and you chose not to, don’t complain if you loseâ€"but more important, don’t get cocky if you win.</p>

South Beach Miami is Popular With the Euro Crowd

I just love South Beach in Miami. Some people think of it as the international playground for the rich, famous and beautiful people but not me; I live in Florida so I know the 'real' South Beach and trust me you find all kinds there.

<br>I have a friend I met while in college recently come back for a visit. He's French and is used to international type beaches, shops, cafes and clubs and often brags that there isn't anything like them anywhere else in the world so while he was here I set out to change his mind.
<br>
<br>The first place I took him was, of course, to Lummus Beach. It couldn't have been more perfect if I had planned it, which I hadn't. They where doing a photo shoot for some fashion magazine right there on the beach, my friend was impressed. As we walked along we saw people playing volleyball, building sand castles and wading.
<br>
<br>After we finished our walk on the beach we went to a hotel in the Art Deco area, these hotels are dotted all along Ocean Ave. in South Beach and are really great to just walk on the other side of the street and look at. Some of the most recognized ones are the Colony and the Clevelander. South Beach has the largest collection of Art Deco architecture in the world.
<br>
<br>After we went back and got clean up from our day at the beach we headed back to Ocean Ave. for a early dinner at one of the many sidewalk cafes there. If you get there early or in the off season you can get some great deals for dinner and even happy hour drinks. The food in South Beach is world class, many of the chefs' train abroad and then bring their culinary skills home to us. As you'd imagine there's a strong Cuban influence as seen is dishes such as paella and all their wonderful pork and chicken dishes - yum. My friend was impressed with his dinner and I was pleased, after all he's been to some of the best restaurants in France no less; this guy knows a good meal when he gets one and he did.
<br>
<br>After we ate I took him to a place called Mango's Tropical Cafe. This place is WILD. When you walk in the first thing you'll notice is that the whole place is painted with bright florescent paint, then you'll see this huge bar jutting out from the middle with dancers on it. Did a mention the dancers, and wait staff for that matter, are very scantily clad? I wasn't able to drag my friend out of there so we could go clubbing until around midnight but that's ok most of the clubs in South Beach don't close until 4 a.m.
<br>
<br>They have a whole section of town, mainly Washington Ave., that has several upscale clubs. One of the most well known is the Mansion, they have special guest DJ's on occasion as well as musical guests. B.E.D. (Beverage, Entertainment and Dining) and Cameo are a couple more, B.E.D. New York was even featured on an episode of Sex and the City; all these clubs are located on Washington Ave. My friend and I dragged our butts in at about 2 a.m., which was relatively early by SoBe standards, because we still had one more day together and I had to take him shopping.
<br>
<br>So as I was driving my friend to the airport we were discussing all we had seen and done and he agreed, finally, that South Beach was pretty international after all. I tried to tell him that but I'm glad he chose to come and see for himself, we really did have a blast.

After all that, here are the top 10 questions to ask a summer camp director. This list was compiled by the American Camp Association.

<br>What's the camp's Purpose? Is it Sports? Is it Traditional? Os it Science? Are you comfortable with this ? Is it a good fit for your child? Is competition or cooperation emphasized? Do you want religious observances or practices? Try to understand all parts of the program

<br>How does the Summer Camp get and train its staff? Do counselors have criminal background checks? First aid training? Drug Testing? What's the training all about?

<br>What about return rates? How many counselors are returning this year? The ACA says at most camps, 50 percent of the staff returns. If the number you're given is lower, ask why. How many campers return? Fifty percent is good, and more is better.
<br>
<br>What's the ratio of counselors to campers? ACA guidelines for overnight camps call for a 1:6 ratio for ages 7 and 8, 1:8 for ages 9-14; and 1:10 for ages 15-18. Day camp guidelines call for 1:8 for children ages 6-8; 1:10 for children ages 9-14; and 1:12 for ages 15-18.

<br>How old are the counselors? The ACA recommends that 80 percent of the staff be 18 or older and that all staffers be at least 16 and a minimum of two years older than the campers they supervise.

<br>What medical staff work at the camp and what backup facilities are nearby? The ACA recommends that an overnight camp have a licensed physician or registered nurse on the site every day, and that day camps should have direct phone access. If your child takes medication, has food allergies or a chronic medical condition, be sure you are comfortable that the camp will be able to handle your child's needs.

<br>How does the camp Punish campers? Know what your summer camp's rules and regulations. Be sure they match yur parental thoughts. Know what breaches would send a camper home.

<br>What does a typical daily schedule look like? This will help you decide if your child will be happy with the level of physical activity or the amount of time devoted to arts and crafts. Ask how much freedom a child has to choose activities.
<br>
<br>Will the camp be transporting the children? What vehicles are used and how often are they inspected? Who drives them and what training do drivers have?
<br>
<br>Ask for references. Finally and most important, get the names of parents with children the same age who have attended the camp.

Most people think that goal setting in nothing more that setting down with pen and paper and writing down specific things that we want to accomplish in our life. These goals should be measurable and have a specific time frame.

<br>Personal goals setting is something we've all done in the past....but how many times have we accomplished the goal? Many time our normal everyday activities get in the way of accomplishing our goals. There are two main areas we normally think about when we think of goals. First of all financial goals always seem to be the priority. Sure we've all dreamed about becoming a millionaire....but have we taken the steps in our life to make it all happen? Second.....personal goals is the pivot point in most peoples outcome of success or failure. Personal goal must be realistic in order for the financial goals to become a reality.
