Loving Your Job

In this day and age, you will be hard pressed to find someone who actually enjoys what they do for a living. In fact, if you talk to most people, you will find out that they really can't stand what it is that they do for a living. However, most people stick with whatever it is that they are doing because it allows them to continue living in a lifestyle that they are accustomed to. Additionally, their job situation may be providing them with the opportunity to better their situations, making it more likely that they will one day be able to afford a house, pay down their car payments and other credit card expenses and hopefully be able to do fun things outside of the work place.
Loving your job starts with figuring out what your passionate about or at least finding something that you are genuinely interested in. However, for most people it is difficult to make their hobbies tie into their careers. For example, someone who really likes photography may become slightly downhearted when they realize that there are a zillion different photographers out there all with different things to offer, making the market for a photographer extremely competitive. This is also why it is important to do the research ahead of time. Unfortunately, many people who go to college aren't really sure what they want to do. It puts a tremendous amount of pressure on some kids while they are still in high school to have figured out what it is that they want to do with the rest of their lives before they even get to their senior prom.
Colleges can be extremely expensive- especially if you are paying for it yourself. Often times, people who are encouraged to pursue their interests in college don't do the required research for jobs that may be available in their field of study once they graduate, leaving them passionate but jobless. At that point, the only thing that they might be passionate about is finding another job and quickly. One alternative that many people are now beginning to seek in order to realize their dreams of doing what they love, is they are working two jobs. For example, someone who is really interested in music might pursue a degree in Economics and minor in music. In this case, they are being smart about it because then they at least have one degree that is marketable and they still get to pursue what they are passionate about because, let's face it, there really aren't that many jobs in the "music" field when you get out of college, which makes it extremely competitive.
Additionally, there are many people who will work from 9-5 and then pursue their real interests whenever they get the chance. It is not uncommon for someone to work two jobs just so that they can earn the little extra pay to be happy doing something that they enjoy. It also takes the burden off of that person to not have to focus quite as much on money since they are doing something that they love.
